We have a variety of opportunities for you to connect with MHBC and begin building valuable relationships with people of common life stages. Take some time to look through the list of ways you can engage and become involved with other believers who have a desire to show the love of God to our local community.
We love to partner with local organizations like Ruth N. Upson Elementary School, Murray Hill Athletic Association, Murray Hill Preservation Association, and Friends of the Murray Hill Library, among others. When we can work with organizations to promote what is best for the community, we share Jesus' love even if we don't get to bring these people into our church. After all, if we love God, we will love our neighbor. Even if you're not interested in joining our church, we'd love to partner with you to promote literacy, clean up trash around the neighborhood, or give away food to people in need. Contact Jay Stuckey to get involved.
Once a quarter, we partner with Feeding Northeast Florida to provide approximately 10,000 lbs of food to our neighbors at no cost. It's difficult to make ends meet, and we're absolutely thrilled to be able to participate in this innovative approach that keeps food at grocery stores from being thrown out. See our calendar for the next event.
On October 31st, we do our Fall Festival for the community. We host nearly 1,500 people as we give away candy and share love with our neighbors in a safe environment. There's no pressure - we don't hand out tracts or ambush people with our beliefs - and we simply want to enjoy Halloween with our neighbors.
Let's face it - our local elementary school, Ruth N. Upson, has some income-challenged families. While Title I provides food for these children during schooldays, they often don't know what they'll get over the weekends. So, we have shoppers that look for the best deals and buy food to send home. While the identities of the children are held confidential, we are able to send 20 students home with food every weekend during the school year. If you'd like to get involved in this ministry, contact Jay Stuckey and ask her how you can get plugged in.
