Thoughts on Worship
Worship comes from the ancient English word "weorthscipe." It translates to modern English as “worth-ship,” similar to scholarship, friendship, relationship, penmanship, or championship. So the act of worship is placing God where He belongs, at the top of the list. To worship God, we must place our own desires as subservient to God’s Kingdom purposes.
So, we believe worship is more about your connection with God than the nuts and bolts of which songs are chosen. In that light, a worship style is really a misnomer. We really mean a music style, or service style, that helps us to put God where He belongs in our life, at the very top.
Our worship team is a talented group of instrumentalists and vocalists. If you look at our youtube channel, you’ll see some of the music we’ve done. Most of our music is what you might hear on the radio if you’re listening to contemporary worship music, but we place great value on the words of a song, what they mean, and how well they will help believers remember deep spiritual truths amidst difficult times. Sometimes, we also sing hymns and older songs penned and composed by writers that went before us and lived out their faith. Whatever the style, we join to worship collectively with music and an atmosphere in which followers of Jesus are reminded and prompted to express God as sovereign.
